The El Dorado Foundation, Inc (TEDFI)

Hi, I'm Natasha Solomon, Founder & CEO of The El Dorado Foundation, Inc. (TEDFI), a non-governmental organization.

TEDFI was established in 2012 with the sole purpose of restoring Guyana's communities, through long-term initiatives and developmental programs, that could provide options for young people living in Guyana. Options that can provide sustainably better living conditions, increase quality of life, and contribute to the preservation of a very rich culture.

I started this foundation with one particular young girl in mind, and what started out as a quest to help with structural issues of drainage and irrigation from severe flooding in those communities, the community I grew up in, quickly changed in 2021.

I was ushered into doing work on womanhood and leadership, when through prayer and reflection I received the revelation that, I was not called to help remove the flood waters from the dam this young woman lived on, but rather, to define for her what it truly means to be a woman. So that she can transition into womanhood as her best self and ultimately repair the dam for herself and others.

Since this shift my mind and heart has been set on creating a young women's mentorship program for girls ages 12-17, in addition to my book on "becoming a woman" for tween girls, which I will be partnering with my own teen daughter to bring to fruition.

One mission, one vision at a time!

The El Dorado Foundation, Inc. is driven by honoring cultural identity, developing bright minds, and reigniting and restoring Guyana's communities! With the vast majority of opportunities to partner with other organizations and persons within the diasporic community, the possibilities that lie ahead for the young people who will benefit greatly from the initiatives that will be developed to support them on their journey to becoming their absolute best selves, are endless.

Young Women's Mentorship Program

Projected Start:  Summer, 2024

Currently in the development phase, this program will begin with a mentorship camp for young women between the ages of 12 through 17, with expansion through age 24.

This initiative is designed to provide structured mentoring, knowledge transfer, life and leadership skills to a select group of young women who will be connected to a network of well-established older women who will share their knowledge, expertise, and experiences with them.

Sponsorship, volunteer, and partnership opportunities are available for this long-term initiative.

The TEDFI Diaspora Youth Engagement Center

A 5-year project

The TEDFI Diaspora Youth Engagement Center will be established in the heart of Demerara/Mahaica region of Guyana, the region where most of Guyana's youths reside. Currently in the development phase, this long-term initiative will provide the space to house the ongoing Young Women's mentorship program and provide additional opportunities for young people to develop life and leadership skills, and build community, all while honoring their cultural identity. Ongoing mentorship, knowledge transfer, life and leadership skills training, just to name a few, will all be built into the opportunities provided by TEDFI DYEC to foster youth engagement, development and empowerment for the youths of Guyana.

Ongoing sponsorship, volunteer, and partnership opportunities are available for this long-term initiative.
